Style Spotlight: Tomboy Chic

We all know there is no ‘right way’ to dress as a woman. Women’s fashion is a constantly evolving animal (thankfully) that lets us girls play around, try out new things, express ourselves and be who we want to be. So if you’re one of those girls who isn’t into florals and ‘fit and flares’, or if you’re simply looking to switch things up this season, then this one’s for you!

Tomboy Chic is all about confidently rocking menswear-inspired pieces then adding in a few fabulous ‘girly’ touches to glam it up a bit. There really aren’t a ton of hard and fast rules, other than to wear something that makes you feel great but here a few tips to make it a little easier:

1. Pair something loose fitting (like an oversized sweater) with something more fitted (like skinnies) to avoid looking overly sloppy.
2. Add meaningful and minimalistic accessories, don’t just accessorize for the sake of accessorizing. Oversized watches, simple studs, structured shoulder bags and clutches are all good. Dangly earrings, headbands not as good.
3. Your iron is your friend.
4. Try not to look too ‘done up’. Effortless is the name of the game.
5. Dress to please yourself – you’re the only one who really matters. If you like it and you feel fierce in it, then wear it.

And remember, you don’t actually have to be a tomboy to dress like one.
