What’s In My Beach Bag?

Hello beach bums … CeeCee here. I don’t know about you, but all I’ve been doing for the past few weekends is heading down to the beach with my family and spending some quality time with Mr. Sun. I love the feeling of sand between my toes and the warmth of the sun on my skin. Being the over-prepared mother that I am, I always have everything I need in one bag … and that goes for my beach bag as well. Here’s a peek at what’s in my beach bag this season.

Beach Towel

Nobody likes to sit on the sand all day without a blanket – it’s not very comfortable and during the hottest hours, the sand can get really hot (It hurts just walking on the burning sand, never mind lying on it).

Hand & Face Wipes

We all know kids are messy … but kids at a beach are extremely messy (sand and water is not a good combo). My hubby and I usually pack some food for the day at the beach, so I always have some hand and face wipes on hand for my dirty little monkeys.

Something to Read

While the kids and their dad play in the sand and water, I like to catch up on my reading. Sometimes it’s a book that I’ve been anticipating reading for weeks, or if it’s one of those days where I just want an easy read and a quick update on what’s on trend, then I’d pack a few magazines with me.

Available at London Drugs, prices vary depending on book/magazine.

Tumbler

No not the social media site … I’m talking about the ones that I can drink from. It’s very important to stay hydrated when you’re out in the sun all day, so I like to have my tumbler filled with either juice or water. Why a tumbler and not a water bottle? Well I can be a bit lazy sometimes … and would rather drink from a straw than opening my water bottle every 10 minutes or so.

Floppy Hat

If you’re not too keen on getting the sun’s rays on your face, then having a wide brimmed hat is the way to go.

Available at London Drugs $14.99.*

Sunglasses

Sunglasses not only make you look like a “superstar”, but they also protect your eyes from the sun’s harmful rays.

Available at London Drugs $16.99*

Sunscreen

This is a must-have! Before we head to the beach, I always slop a ton of sunscreen on myself and my family. It’s important to protect our skin from the UV rays … it’s just the smart thing to do. For the beach, I wear Ombrelle’s Sport SPF 30 Lotion since it is waterproof and oil free. I don’t have to worry about re-applying every time we go in the water.

Available at London Drugs $18.99*

Aloe Vera

If you’re pale like me, then having some Aloe Vera handy is probably a very smart move. Although I wear tons of sunscreen, I sometimes still get burnt in areas where I forget to reapply often – shoulders, neck, and nose. Aloe Vera offers some relief from the pain of a burn and it often helps it heal a little quicker.

Available at London Drugs $7.99*

Lip Balm

I always carry my lip balm with me, as it helps restore a healthy moisture balance to my lips. I personally love Blistex Complete Moisture due to how it makes my lips feel – soft and healthy. It’s important to put sunscreen on your lips as well, so I always opt for a lip balm that has SPF in it. This one has SPF 15.
