Hi Happy Homemakers … CeeCee here. Spring and summer is a wonderful time to start changing things up in the house, after all, many of us have most likely thrown a few things out during spring cleaning. My favourite way to make sure my home is stylish and ready for the warmer season without shelling out a whole lotta cash on new furniture, is to add a few accessories that are on trend. Since I can’t do it all, I usually pick one room to focus on. Here are a few ideas that you can follow to freshen up your bedroom … all within budget!
TREND: Ethnic Patterns
Ethnic fabrics and prints are a popular trend this season. They add “pizzazz” to your room and can bring a little extra charisma to a monochromatic scheme. If it’s authentic, it can also be an incredible conversation piece. So, if you see a cushion or covering similar to this one … don’t shy away.

TREND: Earth Colours for the Bathroom
My bathroom is very white (which is still very much on trend), but there seems to be a tendency towards featuring warmer earth colours this season, so I decided to change up my towels to this fabulous shade of green and a contrasting brown. Add some flowers and floral scented candles and ta-da – the perfect bathroom!

TREND: Geometric White
Spring 2014 is filled with white ensembles featuring striking geometric shapes, which give this basic shade a whole new flavour. I personally love the idea of monochromatic rooms, even if it’s hard to execute. Having geometric items in the room will definitely add some variety and contrast, making the space much more interesting.

TREND: Merging Indoors and Outdoors
One of the most appealing style tips for this time of year is to bring the outdoors into your own home. Many designers are creating outdoor designs for inside the house, such as green grass-like carpets, and birds nest chandeliers. Really! As much as I find this intriguing, I’m not sure I’m ready for such an extravagant change; so I chose to bring mini potted plants into my bedroom as a way of paying homage to this trend, without going all out. They look real, but they’re not … so I don’t have to remember to water them. Love that!
