Girl in Focus: Almira Bardai

As the fall season approaches, Coquitlam Centre has been on the search for our next ‘Girl in Focus’. Inspired by her incredibly chic street and professional style, we’ve asked Almira Bardai to be our ‘Girl in Focus’ for September to November 2015.

CeeCee: Good morning, Almira. Thanks for taking the time to let me interviewyou. I know how busy you are. Let’s start with a simple question … what do you do for work?

Almira: My pleasure. I’m flattered to be asked to be your next ‘Girl in Focus’. To answer your question, I am the Co-Founder and Partner at Jive Communications, a boutique PR and social media firm.

CeeCee: Impressive … and what is the best part of your job?

Almira: There’s two best parts of my job – getting to work with amazing clients, and getting to work with an amazing team. I’m always inspired by both – both want to push the edges, test, be innovative and do better. I’m inspired to be surrounded by such passion, drive and smarts.

CeeCee: Nothing beats having an amazing team! What would you say is your biggest strength?

Almira: Managing a team, and visioning/planning for the future.

CeeCee: What are your goals for 2015?

Almira: Professionally, continue to grow Jive Communications. We’re expanding the company, the size of our team, and the number of offices – 2015 has been incredible, and 2016 will be even more so!

CeeCee:  What’s your next big life goal?

Almira: With growth comes the need for balance – so for me, it’s about balancing my personal and life needs, with those of a growing company. Last year I did my yoga teaching training, and I’d like to continue deepening my practice, while also increasing Jive’s reach across North America.

CeeCee: You’re a yoga teacher, too? Is there anything you can’t do? Being incredibly accomplished, what are you most excited about these days?

Almira: Honestly, I couldn’t be more blessed in my life – I’m excited about everything. On the work front, Jive is just soaring – we have amazing clients and team members, and we’re doing fantastic work. As we’ve grown the team and have more resources, I’m able to carve out friends and family time, and spend quality time with everyone. I also get to spend more time on the things I love, like yoga, exercise and meditation.

CeeCee: What is the best advice you’re ever received?almira

Almira: That it’s 20% planning and 80% doing. You just need to get on with it, execute and execute well.

CeeCee: That’s incredibly exciting. Good luck! What is the vice you’ll never give up?

Almira: It’s a toss up between coffee and wine.

CeeCee: Yep, that’s mine too. If you could switch lives with anyone who would it be?

Almira: I wouldn’t. I love my own life as it is. I’m surrounded by amazing people, and I lead an extraordinary life. I count my blessings every day, and wouldn’t give it up.

CeeCee: It’s incredibly refreshing to hear that. I think that sometimes we get caught up in life, and we forget to appreciate what we’ve got. What is the biggest thing you’ve learned from being an entrepreneur?

Almira: That there’s no holds barred – anything and everything is possible.

CeeCee: What’s the most important advice you would give to your 25 year old self?
